Right on Cue with Rob Walker

Apr 2016
Celebrating the World Snooker Championships in Sheffield

To celebrate this year’s World Snooker Championships, which will have been coming to Sheffield for 39 years since 1977, we will be hosting a lavish dinner with very special guest Rob Walker in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

We will be screening all the quarter final action available via the BBC on the night and after dinner Rob Walker will entertain you with his snooker stories. Our MC for the evening will be Toby Foster, well known stand up comedian and host of BBC Radio Sheffield’s Breakfast show.

Toby Foster is perhaps better known to a wider audience as Les, one half of the double-act Les Alanos in Peter Kay’s sitcom Phoenix Nights. Toby has also appeared in That Peter Kay Thing and Max and Paddy’s Road To Nowhere. He is affectionately referred to as “One-Take” Toby by friend and co-star Peter Kay, because of his belief that he never gets his lines wrong.

Rob Walker is the Master of ceremonies at major televised snooker tournaments, including the World Snooker Championships in Sheffield, where he uses the catchphrase “Let’s get the boys on the baize”.

Rob has also been the host of the Global Snooker Awards and is credited with coining nicknames for several leading snooker players to use in his introductions. Among these are The Magician for Shaun Murphy, The Force for Peter Ebdon and The Thunder from Down Under for Neil Robertson. Since 2013 he has also been the voiceover on BBC One’s gameshow A Question of Sport.
