In March’s breakfast networking event we will be welcoming Yuri Matischen, Managing Director and co-owner of MLS Contracts Ltd, a leading sports and leisure consultancy and events company, based in Sheffield, as our guest speaker.

Yuri is currently one of the Directors and key developers of the new Park Community Indoor Arena on the ground-breaking Olympic Legacy Park, which will house the DBL Sharks basketball franchise and other key indoor sporting clubs.
His first role in sport, graduating from Loughborough, was the General Secretary of the British Universities Sports Federation based in London when he participated in three World University Games and moved to Sheffield to help stage the 1991 World University Games where his long standing relationship commenced with MLS. Yuri has since gone on to become the co-founder and present Chairman of the DBL Sharks professional basketball franchise (1991) and a long-standing director of the British Basketball League.
As a consultant and practitioner, Yuri’s experience includes high-level involvement with the acquisition and management of major events on behalf of clients and national governing bodies across the UK and internationally. He has become a central figure in the region demonstrating the strategic and economic importance of the sport, leisure and tourism sector to the region and is a past President of the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce & Industry and is Chairman of the LEP’s Sport, Leisure and Tourism Group for the City region. What’s more, hee was Yorkshire & Humber’s Regional Champion for Sport England (2009-2013) and during London 2012 was a live venue presenter for Volleyball including three Olympic Finals!
Away from sport and business, Yuri has been a Trustee and former Chairman of Autism Plus, an £11 million charity that supports autistic and other disabled people from cradle to grave in the North of England.
